A high-powered government delegation led by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah on Saturday, April 25, 2026, joined the President of the Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG), David Sitsope Tamakloe, to lay his late father to rest in a solemn but dignified ceremony held at Kpordoave, Klikor near Agbozume in the Volta region.
The burial service, attended by a cross-section of government officials, media practitioners, traditional leaders, and sympathisers, was marked by tributes celebrating the life and legacy of the deceased, Papa Paul Kofi Governor Tamakloe, whose values and discipline were said to have significantly shaped the life of the PRINPAG President.

Representing the government, Hon. Debrah conveyed condolences on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the state, describing the loss as not only a personal grief to the Tamakloe family but also one that resonates within the wider media and national community.
“On behalf of the President and government, we extend our deepest sympathies to David Sitsope Tamakloe and his family. Losing a father is never easy, but we take solace in the impactful life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind,” Debrah stated.
He praised David Tamakloe for his leadership within the media landscape, noting that his commitment to press freedom and professional journalism reflects the values instilled in him by his late father.

Colleagues from PRINPAG and other media organizations also paid glowing tributes, describing the bereaved president as a pillar in Ghana’s media industry and pledging their continued support during this period of mourning.
In a brief remark, the PRINPAG President, David Tamakloe expressed gratitude to the government delegation, the media fraternity, and all well-wishers who stood by him and his family.
“This show of love and solidarity gives us strength. My father lived a humble and principled life, and we are committed to upholding the values he taught us,” he said.

The burial rites were conducted in accordance with both Christian and traditional customs, culminating in a final farewell that drew emotional scenes from family members and mourners.
The presence of top government officials underscored the strong relationship between the state and the media, particularly PRINPAG, which continues to play a critical role in shaping public discourse and promoting democratic governance in Ghana.
