From humble beginnings to a solemn call to serve, Hon. John Desmond Sowah Nai, Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, today commemorates one year of distinguished stewardship marked by resolute action, civic renewal, and an unwavering dedication to the people of Amasaman.
In a reflective address, the MCE characterized his tenure as “a journey of service, sacrifice, and shared responsibility,” underscoring the profound grace and guidance that have underpinned his administration.
“I am deeply grateful to God Almighty for His grace, strength, and guidance throughout this journey of service,” he affirmed.

Expressing profound gratitude to national leadership, Hon. Sowah Nai acknowledged the pivotal role of the presidency and the supervising ministry in enabling his mandate.
“My deepest gratitude also goes to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve in his administration, and to the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs for their guidance and support.”
He reserved special commendation for the Ga West Assembly’s historic demonstration of unity, describing it as a testament to collective resolve.
“I remain deeply humbled by the historic 100% one-touch endorsement of my nomination by the Honourable Assembly Members. To the NDC Amasaman Constituency, party supporters, sympathizers, Heads of Department and staff of the Assembly, thank you for your unwavering support.”

Under his stewardship, the Assembly has converted vision into concrete outcomes. A dedicated Sanitation Taskforce has been instituted, simultaneously enhancing environmental hygiene, restoring civic dignity, and creating gainful employment. Parallel to this, the Development Control Taskforce has enforced order and foresight in a municipality experiencing rapid urban expansion.
“Together, we have turned vision into action and hope into progress,” he stated.
“We strengthened sanitation through the introduction of a dedicated Sanitation Taskforce, creating jobs while restoring cleanliness and dignity within our communities. Through our Development Control Taskforce, we have worked to bring order, discipline and proper planning to our rapidly growing municipality.”
To fortify fiscal autonomy, the Assembly augmented its revenue machinery through the engagement of additional collectors and the procurement of three Nissan Navara pickups, thereby amplifying its capacity for resource mobilization and developmental execution.
“To improve the Assembly’s Internally Generated Funds, we engaged additional revenue collectors and procured three new Navara pickups to strengthen revenue mobilisation and support the Assembly’s development agenda.”

Investment in human capital has been equally deliberate. New classroom facilities and teachers’ accommodation have been constructed to elevate the quality of education, while two ultra-modern CHPS compounds have been erected to extend accessible healthcare to underserved populations.
“Together, we have laid blocks not only for buildings, but for the future of our children, constructing classroom facilities and teachers’ accommodation to improve teaching and learning. We have also invested in the health and well-being of our people through the construction of two ultra-modern CHPS compounds to bring quality healthcare closer to our communities.”
As he advances into the second year of his mandate, Hon. Sowah Nai reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deepen progress and elevate living standards across Ga West.
“This first year has been a journey of service, sacrifice and shared responsibility. The work continues, the vision remains alive, and together, we will build a stronger, cleaner and more prosperous Ga West. Thank you for believing in the journey.”
