President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to join fellow African Heads of State at the Africa Forward Summit, a high-level France-Africa partnership forum convened to advance sustainable development, economic resilience, and global cooperation.
A statement from the Presidency indicated that the Summit, organized by French President Emmanuel Macron, “had brought together African Heads of State, global business leaders, and international partners to strengthen collaboration on key development priorities across the continent.”
As the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, President Mahama is slated to join a high-level discussion on Tuesday focused on green industrialisation and energy transition.
“The session is expected to explore strategies for accelerating Africa’s industrial growth while addressing the challenges posed by climate change and the global transition to clean energy,” the statement noted.
Later in the day, President Mahama will participate in a working lunch on the reform of the international financial architecture.
“According to the statement, the discussion would focus on improving African countries’ access to sustainable financing and ensuring that the global financial system becomes more equitable and responsive to the continent’s development needs.”
President Mahama is also expected to co-chair a roundtable on health under the theme: “Rethinking global health and building resilient national health systems.”
The Presidency added that “the engagement formed part of efforts under the Accra Reset Initiative to strengthen healthcare systems and improve resilience against future global health challenges.”
On the sidelines of the Summit, President Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
“The meetings are expected to focus on global cooperation, economic stability, and food security in Ghana and across Africa.”
The Africa Forward Summit underscores Ghana’s active role in shaping continental and global policy responses to climate change, financial equity, and public health under President Mahama’s leadership.
