The Health Minister, Mr. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, made an unexpected visit to the Madina Polyclinic to promote professionalism, enhance patient safety, and bolster security measures in health facilities nationwide.
This surprise visit followed the Minister’s inauguration of a container-based health post at the Madina Market.
During his inspection, Mr. Akandoh visited different departments of the facility to check adherence to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.
While speaking to health workers, the Minister emphasized the necessity of wearing name tags while on duty, calling this requirement vital for identifying authorized health personnel in healthcare settings.
He noted that this step was essential due to reports of individuals posing as health professionals to infiltrate hospitals and commit crimes, such as theft and suspected baby abductions.
Mr. Akandoh also reviewed the facility’s CCTV system and instructed management to ensure that all cameras are operational at all times.
He further ordered that the monitoring center be staffed 24/7 to facilitate the early detection and prevention of security issues.
The Minister urged health workers to enhance their interactions with patients, referencing rising public concerns regarding poor staff attitudes and service quality in some health facilities across the nation.
To improve healthcare services at the Madina Polyclinic, Mr. Akandoh mandated the immediate supply of beds and other necessary resources under the government’s free primary healthcare initiative to aid the facility’s operations and improve patient care.
