Torgbiga Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional area, has warned that any attempt to delay, weaken, divert, or reassign the Government’s Big Push Road Project from Tokor Junction to Aflao would be a “serious disservice to the people of Aflao and a direct compromise of long-term national interest.”
In a strongly worded statement, Torgbui Fiti V stressed that development must not be reduced to political convenience.
“Development cannot be treated as political convenience; it must remain a matter of principle, equity, and survival,” he said.
The Paramount Chief reiterated earlier calls on the Minister for Roads and Highways to urgently visit Ketu South to ensure clarity, transparency, and full adherence to the original scope of the Tokor-Aflao road. He emphasized that the project serves beyond transport, acting as a protective barrier against coastal erosion and sea incursions threatening lives, property, and economic activity in the border municipality.
Torgbui Fiti V said the people of Aflao remain committed to protecting projects meant for their welfare.
“The people of Aflao remain resolute, vigilant, and unwavering in their commitment to safeguard every legitimate development project intended for their welfare. We shall continue to observe closely, speak firmly, and act responsibly to ensure that justice in development is not compromised,” he stated.
He concluded with a clear demand:
“Let it be clearly stated: Aflao deserves fairness, Aflao deserves protection, and Aflao deserves full and faithful implementation of every project approved for its advancement.”
Torgbui Fiti V ended with a prayer for the nation:
“May Almighty God guide the Republic of Ghana, comfort all affected communities, and grant wisdom, discipline, and integrity to all entrusted with the stewardship of national resources and development.
