A stampede at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference has left three people injured, requiring emergency transportation to Kumasi South Hospital.
The incident occurred at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi when sections of the densely packed crowd attempted to force their way through the grounds, triggering a chaotic rush.
According to Accra-based Citi News, the injuries varied in severity; one victim sustained a fracture, while others suffered minor wounds. Those with less severe injuries are currently receiving treatment at temporary medical centres established within the venue.
The rescue effort faced significant challenges, as paramedics from the Ghana National Ambulance Service struggled to navigate through the massive crowd to reach and transport the injured.
In the wake of the incident, police have intensified crowd control measures at the stadium to manage the situation and prevent any further injuries.
