‘Political Patronage’ Caught Napping In A Duvet.
Firebrand leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo, has been smoked out of his Kumasi hideout by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The outspoken politician, known for his relentless dependence on political parties for survival, was reportedly busted at dawn on Wednesday in a Waldrop duvet, where he was hiding to evade arrest.
After several unsuccessful attempts to track him down, EOCO deployed its sophisticated surveillance system to monitor his movements in the Ashanti Regional capital.
The mission was executed by the agency’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) from their headquarters in Accra, who worked in close coordination with the Ashanti Regional Office.
While no official reason has been given by EOCO for the latest arrest, Akpaloo is said to have been transported to Accra to assist with investigations.
This isn’t the first time Mr. Akpaloo has been in the news for the wrong reasons. In May 2020, he was at the center of media reports concerning a $2 million ECG Energy contract.
