In a determined effort to unravel the truth behind the tragic aviation incident that shook Ghana on August 6, the government has enlisted international expertise to aid in the investigation of the Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
The fatal crash claimed the lives of all eight individuals on board, including two serving cabinet ministers, notably the Minister for Defense, whose untimely demise has left a significant void in the nation’s political and security leadership.
Deputy Minister for Defense, Brogya Genfi, officially disclosed the government’s decision during a solemn meeting with a delegation from the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs on the current date.
The regional chiefs visited the Ministry of Defense to offer their condolences and stand in solidarity with the Ghana Armed Forces following the tragedy.
Mr. Genfi assured the gathering that the Ghana Armed Forces had initiated internal investigations into the incident. However, recognizing the necessity for a thorough, unbiased, and technically advanced inquiry, the government sought collaboration with international partners.
Speaking further, Mr. Genfi emphasized, “Transparency is key in this investigative process. The Ghana Armed Forces is working diligently, and the public will be informed of all developments regarding this tragic accident.”
Moreover, he cautioned the media and the public against spreading unverified information and unfounded theories, highlighting the importance of preserving the integrity of the investigation and respecting the dignity of the victims and their families.
While mourning the personal and national loss, Mr. Genfi praised the late Defense Minister as an exceptional and forward-thinking leader whose reforms were shaping the Armed Forces positively.
As the nation grieves, the wheels of inquiry are in motion with the support of both local expertise and international perspectives. Through meticulous analysis of available data and comprehensive assessment, the investigation aims to provide the Ghanaian populace with a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
