The impression being created by Manhyia South MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, that the attempt by the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) to arrest him at the court complex in Accra is due to his service as a lawyer for Salomey Baffoe, the complex to UK based troll, Ghana Jollof, is a convenient decoy. The attempted arrest has nothing to do with the Salomey Baffoe case, and traces back to apparent fraud that he and his law firm, Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, perpetrated as far back as 2018. The botched arrest also follows his blatant snub of two…

The price of diesel at fuel stations could have risen to about GH¢28 per litre if the government had not intervened to absorb part of the sharp increase in international petroleum prices, Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has disclosed. According to Mr Tameklo, the international price of diesel has nearly doubled since February 2026, putting significant pressure on domestic fuel prices and making government intervention necessary to cushion consumers. The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST) has reduced fuel exports to Burkina Faso and Mali in a move aimed at ensuring adequate supplies for the domestic market as global energy markets remain under pressure. Managing Director Afetsi Awoonor disclosed that the state-owned fuel distributor began limiting diesel and petrol shipments to the two neighbouring countries in August after rising local demand and higher international procurement costs placed additional strain on supplies. According to him, Burkina Faso sought about 80,000 metric tonnes of fuel over July and August, but BOST was able to deliver only around half of that…

The central bank, in a notice issued on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, warned the public against dealing with the identified applications, saying their operations constitute significant violations of customer data privacy, consumer protection requirements and established regulatory standards. The warning places renewed scrutiny on the growing number of digital platforms offering quick loans to Ghanaians, often through mobile applications that…

Respected Lord of Ghana’s Supreme Court, Justice Dennis Dominic Adjei has called for a radical restructuring of Canada-Africa research partnerships, pushing for binding agreements that give African universities direct control over research funds, data, intellectual property and academic recognition. It needs better instruments,” he declared. The Justice of Ghana’s Supreme Court and Judge of the African Court on…
