Workers of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, who are mandated to work on fair wages for public sector workers, are on a sit-down strike to demand placement on the Single Spine Salary Structure. They also want to be involved in the migration process onto the salary structure. The Constitutional Review Commission recommended that salaries and conditions of service for the staff at the Commission be determined by Parliament to avoid any conflict of interest. The Chief Executive of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Ms Benonita Bismarck, has encouraged members of the Greater Accra Handicraft Producers Association to report their shipment challenges to the Authority for redress. NDC flagbearer hopeful, Sylvester Adinam Mensah received a thunderous and rapturous welcome to Bongo, Bolga Central and Navrongo Constituencies during his tour to the Upper East Region last week. In his message, Sylvester Mensah expressed disappointment in successive governments’ failure to link the farmers’ day awards to the objective of transforming the structure of the Ghanaian economy by offering agro-processing equipment/machines to farmers as their awards. The 1978 year group of St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School (SHS), Accra, has provided the school with an ultra-modern ICT lab. The group refurbished and expanded the existing facility and stocked it with modern equipment at an estimated cost in excess of GH₵80,000. Additionally, the 1978 Old Toms donated 21 sets of computers, 21 Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units, three laptops, a lawn mower and firefighting equipment to the school. Government has been asked to review the 20% import tax on sanitary pads to enhance the health and education of Ghanaian girls. The High Court in Accra on Thursday declined an application by Mr Kennedy Agyapong seeking to dismiss the Gh¢25 million defamation suit against him by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. The court also held that the writ filed by Anas does not in any way violate the constitutional rights of Mr Agyapong as no relevant legal points have been raised to substantiate that claim. Mr Agyapong claimed that the wearing of a mask and the concealment of Anas’s identity breached his constitutional rights under article 33 of the Constitution. The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF), has cancelled the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), qualifier between Ghana and Sierra Leone. The Alliance for Development and Industrialization (ADI) has taken a swipe at IMANI’s recent comment that the government’s flagship development agenda- 1D1F should be scrapped, describing it as baseless and reckless. Aviation Minister Joseph Adda has directed the aviation industry regulator, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), to ensure that it works assiduously to ensure that the three new airlines undergoing certification become operational by December. BabyJet, Ashanti Air and Unity Air are currently undergoing their certification process with the GCAA. The three airlines are at different stages of the certification process. The third-strongest storm in recorded history to hit the mainland US has battered north-west Florida, flooding beach towns and snapping trees. Hurricane Michael made landfall on Wednesday afternoon as a category four storm with 155mph (250km/h) winds in the state’s Panhandle region. Two people, including a child, were killed by falling trees, officials say. Michael was downgraded to a tropical storm as it weakened over Georgia on its way to the Carolinas. Storm-surge warnings are in place between Panama City Beach and Keaton Beach in Florida, and between Ocracoke Inlet and Duck in North Carolina, the US National Hurricane Center says.…
