The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has destroyed 14 tipper trucks and one excavator belonging to some sand winners in the Northern Region. The owners had defied a one week ultimatum given by the REGSEC after a report was made by the Ghana Water Company, compelling a team of military personnel to set the vehicles ablaze when they arrived at Dalung,  a suburb of Kumbungu about 10pm on Saturday. Robbers broke into the ICGC Calvary Temple auditorium Sunday dawn in an attempt to steal three 42 inches plasma screens used for projections during service. The robbers, however, bolted upon hearing the sirens from a police team on patrol around Sakumono and its environs. The incident is said to have happened around 2:00 am with only the church’s security man on duty. The robbers were believed to have entered the auditorium from the back of the church. At least six persons were confirmed dead in a motor accident on the Accra-Winneba highway at Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region. The victims who were returning from a funeral met their untimely death when two vehicles smashed into each other. An eyewitness told 3news.com the gory accident happened on Saturday evening around 6:10 pm. “It was a head-on collision and people died on the spot,” he recounted. The public has been urged to resort more to electronic forms of payment in order to reduce their exposure to armed robbery and related risks. Mr Archie Hesse, the Chief Executive of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement System (GhIPSS), said this following reports of two separate armed robbery attacks in two successive days and other instances, in which huge sums of cash were seized. Organizers of the biggest music awards in Ghana, Charterhouse has modified the voting system for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The modified system which takes effect this year will limit voters to a maximum of 50 votes on Vodafone and a maximum of 10 votes on other networks per nominee per category. The families of police men and women who lose their lives in the line of duty are set to receive a greatly enhanced compensation package from the state. The new package covers personnel who were struck down between 2002 and now, and whose families have not received their full entitlement. US President Donald Trump has stepped up his war of words over trade tariffs, threatening to “apply a tax” on imports of cars from the European Union. Mr Trump said other countries had taken advantage of the US for years because of its “very stupid” trade deals.
