President Donald Trump has denied that he is racist, after a row broke out over his alleged use of the word “shithole” to describe African nations. Liberia’s outgoing president has been expelled from her own party, for allegedly failing to support its candidate to succeed her. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is accused of encouraging people to vote against her vice-president, Joseph Boakai. Former footballer George Weah won the presidential elections in December, defeating Mr Boakai. Ms Sirleaf, who is a Nobel Peace Prize winner and Africa’s first elected woman president, could not stand again. The Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC has been  attacked and subjected to severe beatings by some NPP activists. Two persons accused of stealing the body of an old man from the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital’s mortuary have been granted bail. They were granted bail in the sum of 30,000 Ghana cedis with two sureties each by the Tarkwa circuit court. The accused persons are John Asante, 37, a mortuary attendant at the Tarkwa municipal hospital and Seth Owusu, 48, fridge mechanic at Atonsu-Bokro, a suburb of Kumasi. A fifth suspect has been arrested in a 7-member gang-rape scandal that rocked Bantama in the Ashanti region in December last year.   Seven male teenagers were caught on a widely circulated video sexually assaulting a girl.
