The Agona Kwanyako Traditional Area in the Central Region stands on the cusp of a historic renaissance this weekend, as distinguished business magnate and philanthropist, Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, is set to be formally enstooled as Nkosuohene of the Area.
In a profound departure from merely honorary distinctions, the Traditional Council has decreed that this chieftaincy shall be established as a permanent stool. This seminal decision ensures that the title of Nkosuohene will reside within Dr. Asiedu’s family lineage in perpetuity, irrevocably enshrining his bloodline’s role in the governance and development of Agona Kwanyako.
Bearing the stool name Nana Asiedu Keteke I, the solemn installation ceremony is slated for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Agona Kwanyako Durbar Grounds.
The distinguished honour, bestowed by the traditional authorities of Agona Kwanyako, acknowledges Dr. Asiedu’s inflexible dedication to communal advancement, particularly in the realms of education and infrastructural development.
He has long been extolled for his “exceptional generosity, leadership, and commitment to the community.”
During previous ceremonies, Nana Asare Panyin IV, Omankrado of Agona Kwanyako, declared: “You have not only made yourself proud but the entire people of Agona Kwanyako. We salute you. However, we hope that you will work to leave an indelible mark on Agonaman.”
Dr. Asiedu has also been revered as a “Refined Man of Peace” for his crucial role in resolving a protracted seven-year chieftaincy dispute that once fractured the area.
In an exclusive interview with UTV, Dr. Asiedu implored the youth to anchor their future in education and unrelenting diligence:
“We all received our education here. We did not go to school in heaven, but with determination and perseverance, you will surely make it in life.”
The forthcoming event promises to be a majestic tapestry of Agona culture and prestige. The ceremony will be presided over by HRM Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Board Chairman of the Water Resources Commission, with Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, gracing the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
