Outspoken NDC communicator, Hamza Suhuyini Sayibu, has launched a scathing attack on the NPP’s recent call for a load shedding timetable, slamming it as premature and hypocritical.
In a fiery retort just months into President John Dramani Mahama’s term, the NDC representative accused the opposition of seeking a quick fix to a long-standing crisis they allegedly ignored during their time in power.
Highlighting the audacity of the NPP to demand solutions within a mere four months of opposition, Suhuyini emphasized the monumental challenges inherited by the current administration in the energy sector, plagued by debt and neglected infrastructure left by their predecessors.
Revealing the grim state of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as a result of financial mismanagement under the previous government, Suhuyini stressed the NDC’s commitment to transparency, insisting on addressing sector issues in line with democratic principles and previous campaign pledges.
With Minister of Energy John Abdulai Jinapor reportedly working tirelessly to tackle the core issues, Suhuyini lambasted the NPP for their failure to increase power generation capacity during their eight-year rule, leaving behind a hefty debt that continues to burden the sector.
Amidst ongoing challenges, the NDC remains resolute in prioritizing long-term stability and transparency over hasty solutions, disregarding opposition pressure for a timetable in favor of strategic, sustainable measures to address Ghana’s energy woes.
