The Head Pastor of Holy Hill Chapel, Assemblies of God, Reverend Dr. Kwadwo Bempah, has issued a resolute declaration that he will not divert his tithe to any individual — not even to someone on their deathbed.
Preaching to his congregation, Rev. Dr. Bempah underscored the scriptural imperative of prioritizing God above all earthly concerns, asserting that his tithe is sacred and non-negotiable.
“The Bible says, ‘seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.’ Therefore, my tithe to God can never be shared with any living creature,” he stated.
The pastor’s remarks come in the wake of a heated public discourse surrounding tithing, sparked by a Methodist congregant who publicly accused Very Rev. Dr. Samuel Bruce of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Sunyani, along with Methodist bishops and elders, of extortion.
Addressing the controversy during his sermon, Rev. Bempah emphasized that offerings consecrated to God must precede all other obligations.
He argued that channeling tithes to God carries the potential for divine intervention, whereas redirecting them to an individual could prove futile.
“Me, my tithes, if you are dying you will d¡e. I won’t give you, because if I give you, I would join you to d¡e. But, if I give my tithe maybe God will raise you up. It is God first! God will never allow anything to take his place whether your wife, husband or your children,” he declared.
