“Ghana is not asking the world for charity; Ghana is inviting the world to do business—When investors ask, “Where can I invest with confidence and expect sustainable returns?” my answer remains unequivocal: Ghana.
These were the words of Dr Gabriel Kwamigah-Atokple Tanko, Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist, who serves as the Volta region’s representative on Ghana’s Council of State, while addressing the 5th Annual Business Exchange Forum—Invest in Ghana Dialogue in Chicago, USA on Friday, June 26.
Held under the auspices of The Progressive Minds Show, the platform brought together CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie, Rep. of the Illinois State Legislature, Sonya Harper, Hon. Danny Davis, US Congressman, alongside business leaders, investors, and members of the African Diaspora to present Ghana’s compelling investment story.

H.E Kwamigah-Atokple Tanko noted that Ghana is one of the largest economies in Africa, the continent’s leading gold producer, and among the top six gold-producing countries in the world.
Ghana together with Côte d’Ivoire, are the world’s leading cocoa producers. Hosting the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) H.E Kwamigah-Atokple observes, places Ghana at an advantage, giving investors access to a market of more than 1.4 billion people.
These accomplishments, he noted are only the beginning, as greater opportunities await investors in value addition, industrialization, agribusiness, logistics, tourism, technology, and manufacturing.

H.E Kwamigah-Atokple also highlighted what he believes is one of Ghana’s best-kept investment destinations, the Volta Region.
He noted that the region is blessed with fertile agricultural land, abundant water resources, breathtaking natural attractions, and a peaceful and trustworthy people, which presents exceptional opportunities in commercial agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, fisheries, manufacturing, and hospitality.
With Government advancing plans for a modern port and harbour facility, H.E Kwamigah-Atokple is sure the Volta Region is poised to become an important gateway for trade and investment in Ghana and across West Africa.

The businessman and philanthropist concluded his address by reminding the audience that Ghana is open for business, reaffirming the country’s readiness to work with credible investors who share Ghana’s vision of inclusive prosperity and sustainable development.
“The message is simple,” he said. “Come to Ghana—not to donate, but to invest; not to give charity, but to create prosperity together.
“Ghana is ready for public-private partnerships. The Volta Region is ready for investment.

Fortunes are rarely made by following the crowd. They are made by recognising opportunity before everyone else does,” he added, while expressing appreciation to The Progressive Minds Show and the organisers of the Business Exchange Forum for bringing together investors, business executives, industry leaders, and development partners to strengthen economic ties between Ghana and the United States.
