GIS Blows Whistle on Social Media Imposters

Says Comptroller-General Not on Facebook

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has dropped a bombshell, issuing a fierce warning to the public: steer clear of scammers running fake social media accounts, especially on Facebook, and brazenly impersonating the Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu.

In a no-nonsense release inked by the Head of Public Affairs, M. Amoako-Atta, the GIS revealed it’s been inundated with reports of these fraudulent Facebook accounts.

These digital con artists are even shamelessly using the CGI’s images to dupe unsuspecting citizens.

“We wish to state unequivocally that the Comptroller-General of Immigration does not own or operate any Facebook account and the public is strongly advised not to engage with them,” the release thundered.

Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, the real Comptroller-General, is vehemently distancing himself from these bogus accounts. The GIS is making it crystal clear: if you fall for these digital traps, you’ve got nobody but yourself to blame. Engage with these fraudulent platforms at your own peril

What are your thoughts on how social media is being used by scammers, and what measures do you think individuals can take to protect themselves?
