The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has called on Ghanaians to actively participate in governance and national development to help accelerate the country’s socio-economic transformation.
Speaking at the Government’s Citizen Engagement Tour held in Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Debrah said the administration of President John Dramani Mahama remained committed to transparency, accountability and people-centered governance.
The engagement formed part of a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the relationship between government and citizens while providing a platform for the public to interact directly with state officials on key national policies and development programmes.

Addressing a gathering of traditional authorities, youth groups, traders, assembly members and civil society organisations, the Chief of Staff stressed that national development could only be achieved through collective responsibility and constructive dialogue.
“We are here to listen to the concerns of the people and also explain government policies and programmes. Governance works best when citizens are involved and informed,” he stated.
Debrah noted that the government’s economic recovery agenda, job creation initiatives and infrastructure development programmes were designed to improve the living standards of Ghanaians across all sectors.

The Chief of Staff further urged the youth to take advantage of government interventions in entrepreneurship, agriculture and skills training to become economically self-reliant.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to implementing policies that would promote inclusive growth, social protection and national unity.
Some participants who spoke during the engagement commended government for creating a platform that allowed ordinary citizens to directly engage policymakers on issues affecting their communities.

Others appealed for improvements in roads, healthcare, education and employment opportunities in the Eastern Region.
The Citizen Engagement Tour is expected to continue in other regions as government intensifies efforts to deepen public participation in governance and enhance accountability in public service delivery.
