After releasing the funeral and burial dates for the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, the funeral committee has paid a visit to the seat of government to update the government.
Affectionately called Daddy Lumba, the hilife legend who died on July 26, is slated to be buried on October 6, 2025 in the Ashanti Region.
The Committee, was received by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
Lumba, described arguably by many as the greatest Ghanaian music legend, is expected to be given a state burial at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Meanwhile, the wife of the deceased Akosua Serwah Fosuh and his children have filed injunction application seeking a halt of the funeral plans.
There is also one Priscilla Ofori-Atta alias Odo Broni, who is alleged to have been married to the musician. They have five kids while Akosua Serwah has four.
There is confusion around his marriage to Odo Broni since he is known to have married Akosua Serwah through ordinance in Germany whose laws strongly prohibit bigamy.

The first wife, who is based in Germany, is displeased with the arrangement made so far by the family, stating that, he has totally been disregarded in the whole funeral arrangements.
Speaking through her lawyers, Dominion Chambers, Akosua Serwah assets that she has been left in the dark, indicating that the whole funeral arrangements were done without her consent, knowledge and involvement.
The suit, specifically mentioned the head of Lumba’s family Abusua-panyin Kofi Owusu, self-appointed funeral committee fixed the date of the funeral without seeking her input even though she is the legally wedded with of many years.
“Praying this Honourable Court for an Order restraining the Defendants, their agents, assigns, workmen, etc., from either collecting the body of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu a. k. a Daddy Lumba from the morgue and performing the burial and final funeral rites of the deceased, upon the grounds set out in the accompanying Affidavit”.
The writ of summon cited by The New Republic Abusua-panyin Kofi Owusu, Priscilla Ofori-Atta and Transitions Funeral Home as 1st, 2nd and 3rd Defendants.
Lawyer for Akosua Serwah in an interview with Peace FM’s Akwasi Aboakye has said that, what his client is seeking the court is to declare her as the only legal wife and also identify Odo Broni as mistress of the deceased and not a wife.
Before things became official, there had been rumours that the two wives have been on each other’s throat with allegations that Akosua Serwah is insisting that she will not allow Odo Broni to observer the widowhood rites.
Odo Broni on the other hand is said to be keeping Lumba’s properties and preventing his external family members from lodging in his East Legon residence. This has been debunked by the head of family though.
