In a touching display of empathy, President John Dramani Mahama has extended a compassionate hand to the grieving families of the tragic Obogu accident victims by donating an impressive sum of GH₵100,000.
The ghastly incident, which took place near Juaso on July 28, 2025, involved the youth wing of the Saviour Church of Ghana who were returning from a church-related event. The devastating crash resulted in multiple fatalities, plunging the entire Obogu community and neighboring areas into profound grief.
President Mahama, offering his deepest condolences to the families of the 16 deceased members of the Obogu Saviour Church of Ghana, labeled the accident as “heartbreaking” and emphasized the urgent necessity for concerted efforts in enhancing road safety to prevent such tragedies in the future.
In an effort to provide solace and immediate relief to the affected families, President Mahama’s generous donation was channeled through the General Superintendent of the Saviour Church of Ghana. The President’s gesture aimed not only at easing the financial burdens of the bereaved families but also at expressing national solidarity during their time of unbearable loss.
Latest reports reveal the loss of 16 innocent youths in the accident, with four others sustaining critical injuries and currently under medical care at the Hawa Memorial Hospital in Osiem. The arrested truck driver, accused of reckless driving leading to the crash, is in police custody awaiting prosecution.
