The President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, and the President of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Giovanni Vincenzo
Infantino, have hailed the Black Stars of Ghana for qualifying for the World Cup for the fifth time.
President John Dramani Mahama, in a post on Facebook on Monday, October 13, 2025, congratulated the Black Stars for securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Mahama praised the team’s achievement, writing, “Congratulations to the senior national team, the #BlackStars. Another qualification for the World Cup.
#ResettingGhana.”
Similarly, the FIFA President sent heartfelt congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history.
The FIFA President said the Black Stars’ fans will bring colour, style, and passion to what he described as the greatest FIFA World Cup ever.
Infantino’s expectations of the Black Stars are high, stating that the team could produce more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous squad that reached the quarterfinals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010.
The FIFA President mentioned that the Black Stars will know who they face when the tournament draw is made on December 5, 2025.
This praise comes after the Black Stars sealed their qualification with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Comoros on Sunday night in Accra, earning Ghana its fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage since their debut in 2006.
Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Mohammed Kudus netted early in the second half to hand Ghana the crucial win, ending Comoros’ recent dominance after two consecutive defeats to the island nation.
