President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama have landed in Beijing, China, to take part in a Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, co-hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and UN Women.
This two-day event, set for October 13 and 14, will gather world leaders to reaffirm the principles of the Beijing Declaration and speed up its execution.

The meeting also marks two important anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women, which was originally held in Beijing.
During his time in China, President Mahama will advocate for women’s empowerment and gender equality, while also engaging in discussions to enhance Ghana–China relations and attract investments.
The President is anticipated to meet with President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang to identify new areas for collaboration. He will also interact with Chinese business leaders and host a Presidential Investment Forum aimed at linking Ghanaian businesses with their Chinese counterparts and potential investors.
As part of his trip, President Mahama will visit Fujian Province to meet with Chinese firms operating in Ghana and promote further investment.
Joining the President are important government officials, including the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Naa Momo Lartey; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza; and Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Ampem Nyarko.
Others in the delegation include the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama; Presidential Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim; and Presidential Staffer, Nana Yaa Gyantuah.
This visit is expected to reinforce Ghana’s enduring partnership with China and promote collaboration in trade, infrastructure, gender equality, and sustainable development.
