The Ghana Police Service, together with the Ghana Gold Board, has initiated a search for four individuals suspected of gold smuggling.
The suspects have been named as Abdul Karim, Sadique Abubakar, Muhammed Afsal Puth Puthalan, and Muhammed Nandoli Rafeeq.
Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, stated that these four are part of a seven-member group involved in illegal trading.
During a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, September 16, Mr. Gyamfi announced that three of the suspects have already been captured and are now in the custody of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
He also mentioned that a reward of GH₵1 million has been offered for each of the four suspects who are still at large.
“We have issued arrest warrants for all of them; they are being sought by both the Police and the Gold Board. If you have any information regarding their whereabouts, please report to the nearest police station or the Gold Board headquarters. A reward of GH₵1 million is available for each of them,” he said.
