As part of a structured framework to institutionalize accountability and enforce rigorous oversight on the execution of state commitments, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has unveiled the establishment of a Presidential Delivery Unit at the Office of the President. The unit is mandated to conduct monthly audits of government pledges, projects, and policy pronouncements to monitor implementation, assess progress, and verify completion.
Mr. Debrah made the disclosure during a town hall engagement in Koforidua, where he reiterated the administration’s resolve to recalibrate critical sectors of the national economy under President John Dramani Mahama’s governance reset agenda.
“My duty is to ensure that every appointee under the government will work according to the wishes of the president,” he declared.
“At the presidency, there is an office called the Presidential Delivery Unit, and I have to ensure that every month I look at the report to see if the president was able to meet all the targets,” he added.
He indicated that operatives from the unit will soon embark on nationwide consultations with traditional authorities and opinion leaders to solicit granular feedback on government performance and ascertain community-level priorities.
“Soon some persons from the presidency will come to you, the traditional leaders, to enquire of you the progress of the appointees within your jurisdiction,” Mr. Debrah stated.
The Chief of Staff underscored that the initiative is designed to fortify the architecture of accountability, compel performance among state functionaries, and guarantee that government appointees deliver tangibly on their mandates in alignment with President Mahama’s vision.
