IMANI Boss Claims Committee that removed Tokornoo ‘rejected life-changing bribes.
A shocking scandal has erupted in Ghana after a high-powered committee tasked with removing the former Chief Justice reportedly turned down enormous bribes to save her career.
The astonishing claim has been made by Franklin Cudjoe, the founder of the influential policy think tank IMANI-Africa, who alleges the five-member panel was offered “mouthwatering” sums of money.
Cudjoe, who has long supported the probe into Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Araba Sackey Torkornoo, revealed that ‘unnamed individuals’ approached the committee with offers designed to “whitewash” her misconduct and keep her in office.
But the panel, which included two Supreme Court judges, a former Auditor-General, and a senior military officer, “stood firm and rejected the tainted offers,” Cudjoe wrote in a dramatic social media post.
”No therefore, know ye all men that, FC of SALL heard all attempts to compromise the committee members that sat on the former CJ’s case with mouthwatering offers they have never seen in their lives,” he said on Tuesday, September 2. “It wasn’t easy, but they stood firm and rejected the tainted offers.”
The former Chief Justice, who was suspended in April 2025, was finally removed on Monday after the committee concluded its months-long investigation and found her guilty of misconduct.
Following the successful removal of the Chief Justice, Cudjoe has now renewed his relentless campaign to oust the head of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, and her deputies.
He is pushing for their removal as part of the new John Dramani Mahama administration’s “reset agenda,” and has promised his full support.
In his online post, the outspoken think tank leader, who has previously voiced his disapproval of the EC leadership, warned that any new committee formed to investigate them will face even greater temptations.
He predicted that the enticements would be “more” than what was offered to the committee that removed the Chief Justice.
”The next Committee that shall sit on the overall mother conspirator of the SALL electoral debacle must be more fortified in the Lord for not just tainted gifts but everything and anything could be offered,” he wrote.
Cudjoe has long blamed the EC and the former Chief Justice for the controversy surrounding the 2020 general election, which saw the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Lolobi, and Likpe (SALL) denied parliamentary representation.
He claims Jean Mensa “deliberately” schemed to reduce the number of seats for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), while Justice Torkornoo is faulted for being part of the Supreme Court panel that reviewed the SALL application even before she was appointed Chief Justice.
In a final, defiant message, Cudjoe offered his services to the government to ensure the “reset agenda” is completed.
”I know a man who can help. They know the man,” he wrote. “I shall speak less of what I am thinking and doing to help in this next battle… Stay focused.”
