Thousands of hopeful Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recruits, have been left frustrated and exhausted at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra as the ongoing screening exercise drags on.
As part of the GAF recruitment process, all applicants are required to undergo thorough medical and physical screening before proceeding to training.
The nationwide exercise, scheduled to take place across major centers, saw large numbers of recruits trooping to El-Wak for their examinations

Following reports that some applicants had been told to return on Saturday, The New Republic visited the venue to verify the claims. It was observed that the screening was still in progress, but the stadium was overcrowded, making it difficult to accommodate all participants.
Some recruits shared that the congestion had led to a few individuals collapsing and being rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Many expressed fatigue and frustration with the long process, questioning why the GAF recruitment portal was opened separately from other security services.
According to one applicant, combining the GAF recruitment with other security service enlistments might have helped reduce the overwhelming turnout.
Information gathered by The New Republic suggests that the screening exercise may continue through Saturday, though the Ghana Armed Forces has not yet issued an official statement confirming this.
