The final funeral rites for the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, is slated for Saturday, 13 December, at the Koforidua Jackson Park, in the Eastern Region.
The funeral is expected to be attended by party bigwigs, government officials, the Ghana Armed Forces and the general public, to show their last respect for the late national hero.
The medical doctor did not only die as a substance minister and a leading member of the governing party, he died as the director of election and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC),
In Accra, billboards and posters have been erected at vantage points announcing the pending event.
Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi, who served the deceased as his deputy minister, in a post on the invited the general public to join the family to mourn their beloved and former minister.
In a joint post, advertising his former boss’ funeral and that of the wife of the former National Coordinator of the National Security, Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, urged the public to grace the two events in their numbers.
“This Friday, 12th December, we stand with our esteemed Special Envoy to the Alliance of Sahel States, Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (Rtd.) for a burial service at Lashibi, as he lays his beloved wife to rest.
On Saturday, 13th December, we gather in Koforidua at Jackson Park for the final funeral rites of my late boss, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah. We invite well‑wishers and sympathizers to join us in honoring their memory and offering support to the bereaved families”, he posted.
The 49-year old met his untimely death on August 6 together with 7 others including his colleague Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
That number included three crew members and five passengers. The army personnel were identified as Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The other who NDC officials are Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Muniru; Former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong; and the former deputy director general of the National Disaster Management Organizarion (NADMO) Samuel Aboagye.
.The national funeral and burial rites were performed for all victims in August 2025.
