As the world marks “International Women’s Day” today, Member of Parliament (MP) for North Dayi, Hon. Joycelyn Quarshie, has joined the global community to celebrate women in her constituency and across the country.
In a short message to commemorate the day, the MP commended women for their resilience, hard work and invaluable contributions to family life, community development and national progress.
She noted that women continue to play vital roles in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, entrepreneurship and public service, stressing that their efforts remain critical to Ghana’s socio-economic growth.
“Women are the backbone of our homes and communities. Their strength, sacrifice and dedication continue to shape the future of our nation,” she said.

The North Dayi legislator used the occasion to encourage young girls to pursue education and leadership opportunities, assuring them of her continued support for initiatives aimed at empowering women and promoting gender equality in the constituency.
She also reiterated her commitment to championing policies and programmes that would enhance women’s economic independence and social well-being.
The celebration of International Women’s Day, observed annually on March 8, with the 2026 edition swirling around the theme: “Give To Gain,” provides an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women while also highlighting the need to accelerate efforts toward gender equality worldwide
