Raymond Archer has been confirmed as the substantive Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), effective October 27, 2026, formalising his leadership of the state agency responsible for investigating economic and organised crime.
The confirmation was announced by EOCO Board Chairman, Daniel Domelevo, who said Mr Archer officially assumed the substantive position on the date.
Mr Archer had been heading the office in an acting capacity since his appointment in 2025, taking over from Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah.
His confirmation comes as EOCO continues investigations into suspected financial crimes, money laundering, corruption-related offences and organised criminal activities.
Under Mr Archer’s leadership, the office has investigated 462 cases, according to figures highlighted by President John Mahama.
The agency has also recovered GH¢617.5 million in public funds and retrieved 29 luxury vehicles linked to transnational carjacking syndicates.
In addition, 15 cases were advanced to formal prosecution in the courts during the period.
Among the high-profile matters associated with EOCO’s enforcement activities are the arrest of Miracles Aboagye in connection with an alleged GH¢55 million forensic audit case and legal proceedings involving former National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab.
Mr Archer, a former award-winning investigative journalist, has the Mahama government’s poster boy for probity and accountability. He has developed reputation as the government’s stepping razor against corruption.
His confirmation gives him substantive authority to lead the office as it pursues its mandate of investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crime.
EOCO is responsible for tackling offences that threaten Ghana’s financial and economic interests, including money laundering, financial fraud, human trafficking and other forms of organised crime.
