Vivo Energy Ghana PLC, the marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Ghana, has won four awards at the National PR and Communications Excellence Awards organised by the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR Ghana), earning recognition for its strategic communications, public relations initiatives and campaign execution.
The company secured awards in four categories, including Best Promotional Event and Best PR Campaign of the Year for its She’llFix initiative, as well as PR Organisation of the Year – Commercial and PR Organisation of the Year – Energy and Utilities.
The awards, presented in Koforidua on October 29, 2026, recognise the company’s communication initiatives and its engagement with customers, stakeholders and communities.
The double recognition of She’llFix, a campaign designed to equip female motorists with essential vehicle maintenance knowledge and practical car care skills, was a major highlight of the company’s achievement.
The initiative seeks to address knowledge gaps among women motorists by providing them with the information and confidence to understand their vehicles, identify basic maintenance needs and manage routine car care.
Through practical education and engagement, She’llFix promotes greater independence among female drivers while encouraging responsible motoring, vehicle safety and regular maintenance.
The campaign also challenges traditional perceptions surrounding vehicle maintenance, demonstrating how public relations initiatives can extend beyond corporate promotion to deliver practical benefits to communities and customers.
Vivo Energy Ghana said the initiative reflects its commitment to purposeful communication and stakeholder engagement, using education and empowerment to address everyday challenges faced by motorists.
The company’s recognition in the two PR Organisation of the Year categories also highlights its communications activities across the commercial and energy sectors.
Commenting on the awards, Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, said the recognition of the company in both the Commercial and Energy and Utilities categories reinforced its position in Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry.
She said the awards underscored the strategic contribution of communications to business performance, reputation management and stakeholder engagement in an increasingly dynamic and competitive operating environment.
According to her, the recognition reflects the company’s efforts to maintain strong relationships with its stakeholders while delivering value through its business operations and community initiatives.
The awards also align with Vivo Energy Ghana’s vision of becoming Africa’s leading and most respected energy business, supported by its commitment to excellence, responsible business practices and sustainable value creation.
The company said its approach to public relations was anchored in its core values of Safety, Excellence, Caring, Respect and Integrity.
Through She’llFix, those values are translated into practical engagement aimed at understanding customer needs, promoting inclusion and helping women motorists develop skills that contribute to safer and more confident driving.
The initiative further demonstrates the company’s commitment to using communication as a means of building trust, strengthening stakeholder relationships and creating shared value.
Vivo Energy Ghana said it would continue investing in its retail network, customer experience, employees and community initiatives as part of its broader strategy to maintain high standards in the energy sector.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to being a trusted partner in Ghana’s development through responsible business practices and initiatives that benefit customers, partners, employees and the communities it serves.
