The recently organized trip to some cocoa farms in the Ashanti Region by Minority Members of Parliament (MPs), has come to a successful end, with participants returning to the august house for parliamentary business.
The tour, was to commiserate with some cocoa farmers, who have had to endure the recent reality of reduction of the commodity price of the product due to a crash at the international market.
The tour was led by the Nsawam Adoagyiri MP and Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh and Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Apiagyei and MP for Asorkwa.
The caucus was demanding the reversal of the price from GHc2, 587 per bag to the previous GHc3, 625, directing that even if there is no money for such, the administration borrows to appease the farmers for the rest of the 2025/26 crop season.

Although the caucus described the tour as a very important exercise that brought a lot of things to light, what has strangely caught the attention of many is the outfits they wore to the farms.
The MPs adorned branded t-shirts that had inscription bashing the government.
What has got people talking is the inscription “NDC” that accompanied the rest of the writing “Aban bone” on the shirts.
There were even more writings beneath but those could not even be read reading from the videos due to the fact that they were very small.
Apparently, this was carefully done to express their disquiet about the price reduction and put the government in bad light in the eyes of the public and the farmers.
But commentaries sampled on social media has rather been drifted to “why are NPP MPs wearing NDC branded t-shirts” questions?

On X, formerly Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok, the question has been the same. Users are at a lost why the NPP will choose to wear an attire that advertises their opponents than themselves or the farmers.
The NPP has been consistent with its opposition to the price cut since its inception in February.
Aside being accused of being behind dotted agitations and demonstrations in cocoa growing areas like the Western North Region, they took their concern to the floor of Parliament. During the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) presented by President John Dramani Mahama staged a symbolic protest.
The political drama unfolded right before the President was called to deliver his address.
Immediately he was called to the stage, they stood up and displyed and displayed the pods while singling, catching the attention of many.

The Minority first came into the Kente sashes over all black attire, with the inscription “Akuafo aye mobo dodo”, to wit cocoa farmers are suffering.
