The Government of Ghana, through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has formally commenced the disbursement of grants to 3,212 beneficiaries under the flagship Adwumawura Programme.
Conceived as an audacious national intervention, the Adwumawura Programme is engineered to galvanize youth entrepreneurship, catalyze business expansion, and accelerate job creation. It was inaugurated to equip young Ghanaians with the requisite entrepreneurial acumen and resources to establish viable, sustainable enterprises.
To date, the initiative has successfully trained and mentored 10,887 beneficiaries across the nation. These cohorts underwent five weeks of rigorous, immersive entrepreneurial training, complemented by six months of structured post-training mentorship designed to fortify their business models and enhance operational capacity.

Transitioning from capacity building to capitalization, NEIP instituted a stringent and transparent selection framework to identify high-potential ventures deserving of grant support. A Grant Management Committee was duly inaugurated to superintend the process, ensuring fidelity to the principles of fairness, accountability, and meritocracy.
The Committee draws its membership from a distinguished cross-section of stakeholders academia, government institutions, financial agencies, development partners, and the private sector thereby guaranteeing a balanced and credible oversight architecture.
Post-training, beneficiaries were mandated to submit comprehensive business plans delineating their proposed enterprises and innovations. These submissions were subjected to an intensive one-week preliminary screening, evaluated against exacting criteria, including:
Scalability – the latent potential for business growth and market expansion
Job Creation Potential – the capacity to generate at least two decent employment opportunities
Sustainability – the long-term viability and resilience of the business model
Feasibility – the practicality and implementation readiness of the venture

Applicants who surmounted the initial screening advanced to a nationwide pitching phase, where they defended their business propositions before the Grant Management Committee. This stage facilitated deeper evaluation and validation of proposals, culminating in exhaustive assessment reports that informed the final selection.
Following this meticulous process, 3,212 successful beneficiaries have been selected from all regions of the country.
The commencement of grant disbursement reaffirms government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship, mitigating youth unemployment, and fostering inclusive economic growth.
NEIP reiterated its dedication to providing continuous support through post-disbursement monitoring and bespoke business advisory services to safeguard the sustainability and success of funded enterprises.
