The Government of Ghana, through the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and TDC Ghana Ltd, in partnership with ARISE Integrated Industrial Platforms (ARISE IIP), has taken a significant step toward the development of an integrated industrial park in Tema with the incorporation of a new project company.
In a statement issued on May 21, 2026 and signed by the Unit Head of Public Affairs & Communications of GIADEC, Priscilla Hemans, the partners announced the formal establishment of the Tema Integrated Industrial Parks Company Limited (TIIPco) in April 2026 as a Special Purpose Vehicle to develop and manage the proposed industrial park.
Following its incorporation, TDC Ghana Ltd has made available land situated adjacent to the Volta AluminiumCompany (VALCO) smelter and granted TIIPco a Right of Entry, which has since been accepted. Site preparation works have already commenced ahead of full project implementation.
The initiative follows earlier agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding and a Shareholders’ Agreement signed among the parties. The proposed Tema Integrated Industrial Park is expected to cover approximately 100 to 120 hectares within the Tema Heavy Industrial Area.
According to the statement, the project forms part of a broader national strategy aligned with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama to establish a modern integrated industrial park in Tema. The initiative is expected to create jobs, enhance local value addition, and accelerate Ghana’s industrialization agenda.
ARISE IIP is expected to contribute its pan-African expertise in designing, financing, developing, and operating integrated industrial ecosystems. The company focuses on supporting local transformation of raw materials, improving export competitiveness, and promoting sustainable industrial development across Africa.
GIADEC emphasized that the project will help unlock value across Ghana’s aluminium value chain and attract investment into downstream processing and manufacturing activities. The corporation manages the state’s interests in the aluminium sector, including its stake in VALCO and the Ghana Bauxite Company.
TDC Ghana Ltd, established to plan and manage land development within the Tema Acquisition Area, described the project as consistent with its long-standing mandate to support urban and industrial growth in Tema.
A sod-cutting ceremony to officially launch the full rollout of the project is expected to be performed by the President in the coming weeks.
