Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang received Mr. Martin Guettler, Resident Director of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Ghana, in a high-level engagement centered on deepening democratic inclusion and accelerating sustainable social progress.
For decades, FES has distinguished itself through an unwavering commitment to elevating quality of life, advancing equity, and creating pathways for marginalized communities to thrive.
Commending the foundation’s enduring partnership, the Vice President applauded FES for its crucial role in advancing women’s leadership across the country.
She urged the organization to intensify its capacity-building and training programmes to equip more women with the tools to participate decisively in governance and public life.
“With the passage of the Affirmative Action legislation, the moment for rhetoric has passed. Our focus must now pivot to rigorous, intentional implementation,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated.
She further underscored the strategic imperative of investing in Ghana’s youthful demographic, describing it as both a defining challenge and an unparalleled opportunity for national transformation.
“We also highlighted the importance of investing in Ghana’s youth by building their confidence, skills, and leadership capacity, because Ghana’s youthful population presents both a challenge and an opportunity,” she affirmed.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge for collaboration.
“We concluded the meeting by committing to continue working together to promote inclusion, leadership development, and sustainable social progress. Our doors remain open to partnerships that advance these objectives,” the Vice President emphasized.
The engagement reaffirmed government’s resolve to harness partnerships that translate policy into tangible progress for women, youth, and vulnerable groups nationwide.
