….9 Board’s Members Fired

President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to political appointees regarding discipline and cohesion, as he prepares to undertake another major reshuffle targeting Chief Executives of state institutions.
In a notice signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Presidency reminded Ministers, Deputy Ministers, CEOs, and board members that public office is a privilege.
Appointees were instructed to discharge their duties with integrity, diligence, and humility while respecting established administrative procedures.
The statement delivered a blunt warning: “Conduct that undermines governmental cohesion, institutional authority or the effective implementation of Government policy will not be tolerated.”
This alert follows the President’s decision on Wednesday, September 2, to dissolve the governing boards of nine state-owned institutions with immediate effect.
The affected entities are the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Ghana Post, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, and the National Sports Authority (NSA).
The board dissolutions and the impending CEO reshuffle form part of a wider reorganization of the Mahama administration.
In August, the President executed a ministerial reshuffle that saw Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo reassigned to Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum moved to the Labour, Employment and Job Creation portfolio, and Ernest Brogya Genfi appointed as Presidential Advisor on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness.
According to the Presidency, these leadership changes are designed to strengthen coordination, enhance performance, and ensure that appointees remain strictly aligned with the government’s policy priorities.
Moving forward, the statement indicated that the performance of appointees across all sectors will be continuously assessed.
The President emphasized that he is prepared to take any further action necessary to safeguard the integrity and responsiveness of his administration, urging all officials to cooperate fully in delivering the government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people.
