The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has launched a GH₵1.5 million support scheme, the Ewura-Mahama Reset Fund, to assist traders and spare parts dealers within her constituency.
Under the initiative, cash presentations were made to a large number of beneficiaries to help strengthen and expand their businesses. The beneficiaries were drawn from Kokompe and various communities across the enclave.
The funds, disbursed in the form of soft loans, are to be repaid within a stipulated period to allow other constituents to also benefit from the scheme.
Addressing the beneficiaries during the presentation, the first-time lawmaker urged the traders and dealers to put the money to good use.
Many of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the MP for honouring her promise to support their trading activities.
One woman, who could not contain her excitement after receiving GH₵10,000, praised the MP for the gesture.
She disclosed that although she was once a devoted member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), she never benefited from the party, prompting her to change her voting pattern in favour of the current MP in both the 2024 general election and the subsequent rerun.
“In the past, I was a devoted NPP member. I said even if my thumb removed, I will use my tongue to vote for them. I did not know they were not going to help me. I carried load for them until I developed a problem around my waist. When Ewurabena came, I said she is truthful, so I will vote for her. I voted at Kwashieman and hurt my hand, but I stood my ground and voted again in the rerun,” she said amid jubilation.
She continued: “If today she is MP and I have received GH₵10,000 to pump into my business… if it were a loan, the interest would have been unbearable. Oseeey Mahama! Oseeey Ewurabena! If I had not gotten this money, I would have poisoned myself.”
This is not the first time Aubynn has brought joy to her constituents. In recent months, the MP has been active on the ground, not only lobbying for road projects but also ensuring that deplorable roads, including those at Awoshie, have been rehabilitated, tarred and asphalted to ease movement within the area.
She also recently presented a newly constructed AstroTurf facility to Wesley Grammar Senior High School. Videos circulating on social media show her inspecting various road projects while constituents shower praises on her and sing her name.
The constituents have assured the MP of their continued support at the polls so that development in their communities can continue.
