Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, has urged Japanese investors at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) to capitalize on Ghana’s growing status as a doorway to business ventures in West Africa.
Addressing attendees with the theme “Leveraging Innovation for Africa’s Industrial Transformation; Building Resilience in a Globalised Economy,” the Minister showcased Ghana’s stable political climate, adherence to law, and strategic location, defining the nation as a trustworthy investment haven.
“Ghana presents a tranquil and foreseeable business environment, and we extend a warm invitation to Japanese investors to leverage our policies and initiatives, particularly the 24-hour economy, to stimulate industrial advancement and foster mutual prosperity,” she stated.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare emphasized Ghana’s dedication to fortifying industries to enhance productivity and bolster the country’s competitive edge on the global platform.
Further discussions between the Honorable Minister and Japanese dignitaries and industry leaders aimed at boosting economic connections, specifically in agribusiness, manufacturing, and technology transfer, to elevate Ghana’s industrial prowess and employment opportunities.
Reiterating Ghana’s pledge to industrial evolution under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the Minister depicted the nation as “a natural epicenter for investment and commerce in Africa.”
The TICAD 9 summit, hosted in Yokohama and attracting African leaders, Japan, and global collaborators, serves to fortify cooperation in trade, investment, and development. Ghana’s extensive involvement in the summit underscores its resolve to forge stronger global alliances while propelling domestic economic expansion.
