The National Deputy Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dzifa Tegah, has officially announced her decision to run for the position of National Deputy General Secretary of the party.
Speaking at a press conference attended by party executives including newly elected constituency officers party members and journalists, Tegah explained that her decision was driven by what she called a firm resolve and a deep sense of responsibility for the future of the NDC.
Grassroots-Inspired Decision
According to her, the inspiration to contest came from the party’s grassroots base, which she described as the lifeblood of the NDC.
She credited these members with keeping branches and constituencies active, and with carrying the party’s umbrella “through sun and storm, through victory and defeat.”
Tegah, who previously served as a constituency communication officer, said her work as Deputy National Women’s Organiser has taken her across branches, constituencies and regions exposure she says has equipped her with hands-on experience in communication and constituency management.
A Candid Assessment of the Party
While acknowledging the NDC’s deep-rooted strength, the aspirant was candid about areas requiring improvement.
She identified administration, communication, grassroots mobilisation, and member inclusion as key areas where the party must raise its game to ensure every member feels a genuine sense of belonging.
Vision for the Role
Tegah argued that the office of Deputy General Secretary is central to the day-to-day running of the party.
In her view, the role is responsible for building structures, supporting the General Secretary, connecting the national secretariat to regions, constituencies and branches, and making sure no voice goes unheard.
Reflecting on how political victories are secured, she stressed that elections are not won on voting day alone, but through careful planning, strong operational structures and effective management in the months and years leading up to polls.
On that basis, she presented herself as a candidate who brings fresh energy, proven experience in organising with limited resources, and communication skills grounded in discretion.
Pledges
If elected, Tegah pledged to bring the secretariat closer to members and executives across the country, ensure members’ concerns are addressed and records are properly kept, champion the inclusion of young women and men in party leadership and work to make the NDC stronger and battle-ready for victory in 2028 and beyond.
