The Ministry of Education has officially welcomed over 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are arriving at various schools nationwide this weekend to start the 2025/2026 academic year.

In a statement released on Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Ministry offered its warmest congratulations and best wishes to all newly admitted students, calling this moment a significant milestone in their educational journey.

“This signifies a new chapter in their academic journey,” the statement said. “The Ministry warmly welcomes all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and encourages them to approach this next phase of their learning with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.”

The Ministry also thanked parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation during the school placement process, announcing that placements and residential status allocations for the 2025/2026 academic year have officially concluded.

It further urged parents to go to their assigned schools to complete enrollment procedures and help their children settle in smoothly as academic activities commence.

Reaffirming its commitment to providing quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children, the Ministry assured the public that all necessary measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth start to the new academic year across the country.

“We once again welcome our young learners to the senior high school family and wish them the very best in their academic and personal growth,” the statement concluded.

The press statement was signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Honourable Minister for Education.
