…He Will Be a Better Candidate Than Asiedu Nketia
By Lawrence Odoom/Phalonzy
Former NPP Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku and one-time Minister of Health nominee, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, has publicly endorsed Chief of Staff Julius Debrah as the most potent contender to spearhead the National Democratic Congress into the next electoral cycle, pointedly discounting the presidential prospects of NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
Dr. Okoe-Boye, a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party, made the audacious declaration during an appearance on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, where he extolled Mr. Debrah’s credentials as a transformative leader capable of redefining Ghana’s trajectory.
In a striking articulation of his allegiance, Dr. Okoe-Boye declared:
“Good morning Chairman Asiedu Nketia. The problem is that I am in Julius’s team, not in your team. That is the only problem I have with you. Some of us are Team Julius. You can continue with your ‘Thank You Tour’, but Julius is coming.”
Doubling down on his conviction, he further asserted: “I am in Team Julius. For me, Julius Debrah holds more promise for this country after Bawumia than Asiedu Nketia.”

The comments mark a rare moment of cross-party commendation and are poised to ignite fervent debate within the NDC, as the party’s internal succession discourse intensifies. Dr. Okoe-Boye’s emphatic endorsement positions Julius Debrah as a formidable force in the emerging contest for the party’s flagbearership, challenging the entrenched influence of Chairman Asiedu Nketia.
