The management of Ghana National Gas Company has issued a detailed statement addressing recent concerns surrounding its procurement activities and the renewal of its insurance contracts, firmly dismissing allegations of impropriety.
In a press release dated April 13, 2026, and signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the company explained that all procurement processes undertaken were conducted in strict compliance with regulatory requirements.
According to the statement, every contract awarded went through the necessary approval procedures, including authorization from the Public Procurement Authority and financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.
Ghana Gas noted that the recent public discourse was largely triggered by the change in its lead insurance provider. The company clarified that this transition followed the natural expiration of previous insurance contracts at the end of the year and was part of routine operational processes rather than any irregular conduct.
The statement emphasized that the new insurance arrangements are not only lawful but also form part of an improved and more strategic risk management framework aimed at protecting the company’s assets and operations.
Reassuring stakeholders and the general public, Ghana Gas categorically stated that no wrongdoing has occurred in its procurement or contractual dealings. The company further reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, good corporate governance, and adherence to all legal and institutional frameworks guiding its operations.
Additionally, the Board and Management reiterated their focus on delivering gas reliably and efficiently to meet Ghana’s growing energy demands. They highlighted that maintaining uninterrupted gas supply remains a top priority, given its importance to national development and industrial growth.
The company also assured that, as part of best corporate practice, it will continue to periodically review and strengthen its internal systems and procedures. This, it said, will ensure that procurement, compliance, and risk management structures remain robust, effective, and aligned with international standards.
Ghana Gas reaffirmed its dedication to serving the interests of its stakeholders while upholding the highest standards of integrity and operational excellence.
