The National Democratic Congress has decisively quashed swirling speculation of an imminent government reshuffle, admonishing the public to treat as spurious the deluge of unverified claims proliferating across social media and informal channels.
In an official communiqué issued on June 6, the party’s Deputy National Communication Officer, Godwin Ako Gunn, issued a stern caveat to supporters and citizens alike, underscoring that “no official communication had been issued regarding any reshuffle.”
The party asserted that in a digital epoch where misinformation metastasizes with alarming velocity, certain actors persist in deliberately distorting facts to sow confusion and erode public confidence in institutional sources.
“The NDC also rejected a letter purportedly emanating from the Jubilee House, which contained a list of alleged dismissed and newly appointed ministers, describing it as fake.”
Further amplifying its warning, the statement underscored the juridical ramifications of disseminating falsehoods under Ghana’s Cyber Security Act, cautioning that “individuals who engage in the dissemination of misinformation could face serious consequences.”
In sum, the NDC has urged Ghanaians to exercise discernment, verify before sharing, and anchor their understanding solely in authenticated pronouncements from legitimate authorities.
