Cops pounce on suspect in grisly UEW lecturer slay

A chilling crime scene unfolded in Essuokyir, Central Region, as the long arm of the law reached out to snare Joshua Karry Arthur, the prime suspect in the tragic murder of a distinguished Senior Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba.

Arthur was apprehended in a dramatic raid conducted by officers from the Central Regional Police Command at the lecturer’s abode on Thursday, May 22, 2025, following a distress call by colleagues who had been unsuccessful in their attempts to reach the deceased.

The police swooped in after the alarming report, and their search of the lecturer’s residence unearthed bloodstains mingled with sand deposits just a stone’s throw away. Digging deeper, officers uncovered the grim remains of the missing academic.

Various personal effects belonging to the departed, including two Samsung phones, a laptop, a 50-inch TV, and the key to a snazzy Toyota Fortuner, were among the items confiscated from the suspect.

Arthur is currently sitting tight in police custody, lending his full cooperation to the ongoing probe and is slated to face the music in the courts soon.

The cops have assured the community that their pursuit of justice remains steadfast, with investigations continuing apace.
