In a move underscoring political sagacity and intra-party cohesion, Mr. Kofi Matthew, former Deputy Central Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has paid a courtesy call on the Regional Secretary, Hon. Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams.
The meeting held at the premises of the Ghana Libyan Arab Holding Company (GLAHCO), forms part of his extensive consultations ahead of his bid to run for the office of Regional Secretary.
The deliberation, held in an atmosphere of cordiality and mutual deference, underscored the profound respect shared between the two party luminaries, further accentuating the necessity of an orderly and seamless transfer of institutional memory and operational expertise.
Party insiders described the engagement as “a testament to the robust unity permeating the region and a collective resolve to fortify and amplify the party’s gains in the Central Region.”
Hon. Nii Kommey Adams, who was appointed by H.E. John Dramani Mahama in 2025 as Executive Director of GLAHCO, received Mr. Matthew warmly.
A senior party figure privy to the discussions noted, “This is how continuity is secured. The wisdom of the present must be the compass for the future.”
As the NDC prepares to elect a new regional leadership, the prevailing sentiment within the party is that the moment demands “individuals who embody a rare amalgam of competence, credibility, reliability, experience, and emotional intelligence,” qualities deemed indispensable for an effective and unifying stewardship.
Speaking after the meeting, a delegate close to Mr. Matthew’s campaign asserted, “Mr. Kofi Matthew exemplifies these virtues and stands as a credible and formidable contender for the office of Regional Secretary.”
Political observers contend that his candidacy represents both a bridge of continuity and an infusion of renewed vigor at a decisive epoch for the party in the Central Region.
“The NDC in Central needs a secretary who understands the terrain and can unite the base. Kofi Matthew brings that blend of institutional grounding and fresh energy,” a regional executive remarked.
