The Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Dayi constituency, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, has set the internet on fire following his disclosure that he is husband to the Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright.
The Majority Chief Whip disclosed this on a special day of the onetime actress, who turned a year older today, Tuesday, May 19 on his socials.
Unknown to many on the internet, the two have been married and have kids on the quiet without many suspecting.
In a heartfelt message on X where the MP is very active, the Majority Chief Whip wrote with pictures saying:
“A very Special Happy Birthday wishes to this brilliant woman, a sweet wife and a wonder mother. From the entire family, we wish you good health & the fortitude of mind to continue to transform your beloved Tema, as Mayor.
Tons of Love & a mighty hug from me & the kids.

The message has shocked thousands of followers on the internet who have joined him in wishing the female politician best wishes. One of the shocked social media users is veteran journalist Godfred Akoto Boafo.
Sharing the post of the MP, the Citi FM presenter remarked “Heh!!!! I have been walking with my eyes closed.”
The two whether deliberately on not have been keeping their marriage from the public these years even as at 2024.
Recall that outspoken first female Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), in 2024 contested the Tema Central parliamentary seat. She was initially announced the winner and was set to join her husband in the august house.
She lost to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Charles Forson but there was a dispute and, in the confusion, it was Defeamekpor that served as her lawyer when the Electoral Commission (EC) made the changes.
The two worked together without anyone who was unaware prior noticing they were a couple.
It wasn’t the first time she contested the seat. She has contested it more than four times without success. It was after she lost the 2024 one too that she was appointed the Mayor of Tema.
