The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating an alleged criminal conspiracy that resulted in a financial loss of approximately GH¢27 million to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited, with the Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko, and the immediate past Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Duwah, appearing before investigators.
Mr Darko, who honoured an invitation from EOCO on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, has been granted enquiry bail after cooperating with investigators.
Mrs Duwah has also honoured an invitation from the office and is assisting investigators with the ongoing probe.
In a press statement dated October 13, 2026, EOCO said the Suame MP reported to its head office at 12 noon to provide information relevant to the investigation into the alleged financial loss.
The office said Mr Darko was cooperative and responsive throughout the investigative process, a consideration that informed its decision to grant him enquiry bail.
“Having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and the Honourable Member’s level of cooperation with investigators, the Office granted him enquiry bail,” the statement said.
The investigation centres on an alleged criminal conspiracy linked to a financial loss estimated at GH¢27 million to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
EOCO has, however, cautioned against drawing conclusions about the involvement or responsibility of any individual, stressing that the investigation remains active.
The office said Mrs Duwah, the immediate past Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, had also honoured its invitation and was cooperating with investigators as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged loss.
According to EOCO, investigations are progressing in line with its case theory, although it has not made a determination regarding the culpability of any person connected to the matter.
“As the investigation remains active, no conclusion has been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter,” the statement said.
The office has indicated that the probe is continuing, with investigators working to establish the facts surrounding the alleged criminal conspiracy and the reported financial loss.
Neither the grant of enquiry bail to Mr Darko nor Mrs Duwah’s cooperation with investigators constitutes a finding of wrongdoing. EOCO says the investigation is ongoing and that the responsibility, if any, of the individuals connected to the case remains to be determined.
