The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has assured the general public that it will not condone any act of assaults by it officers on civilians.
It has also indicated that it will not shield it personnel who go out of their way to brutalize anyone.
“The Armed Forces assures the general public that it will not condone any acts assault on civilians and will not shield any soldier engaged in such”, the GAF has said.
The assurance follows a viral video of one of it officers brutalizing two at a pharmacy show at Burma Camp in Accra.
The Forces in a statement on Thursday, October 30, confirmed the officer named as WO1 William Mensah, has been apprehended by the Military Police (MP) and assisting in investigation.
“The Ghana Armed Forces has arrested the soldier seen in a viral video on GhOne Tv and other social media platforms, assaulting a drug store attendant and a female customer on Wednesday 29 October 2025, at a pharmacy in Burma Camp”, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General Public Relations said.
It also said his victims —-a lady customer said to be the daughter of a former Provost Marshall of the Military Police and attendant—- have also been treated medically following the attack on Wednesday October 29.
The Army in a statement on Thursday October 30 said the soldier was arrested at dawn.
“The arrest of the suspect was carried out by Ghana Military Police personnel at dawn today, Thursday 30 October 2025. The suspect is assisting in investigation over the incident. The victims have also gone undergone medical attention and are also assisting with investigations.”
