NPP To Strip Nyaho-Tamakloe Of Founding Member Status

By Gifty Boateng

A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, is on the verge of losing his status.

The party threatening to drag him to one of the most important decision making bodies, the Council of Elders, for a decision on him.

General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua has pledged to personally lead the charge to table the issue during the next Council meeting and that will include a suggestion to strip him of his status.

According to the party scribe, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe as an elder who could have been part of the Council, to provide wise advice but instead, he has opted to be disruptive to the course of the bigger party.

“As a founding member of our party, we expect him to be part of the National Council of Elders, providing wise counsel to the rank and file—not becoming a disruptive voice”. That is not the hall mark of a founding member of a political party.

We have several founding members, and none behaves in this matter. At this critical moment, we need positive energy”.

This is something I intend to pursue at out next National Council meeting, it involves his founding member status, because as a party, we don’t need this type of behaviour at this material moment”, he said on Joy News’ channel.

The threat comes in the wake of Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe’s submission on the recent arrest and detention of the Ashanti Regional chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako.

The influential NPP elder, speaking to the television, while some leading members and supporters massed up at the headquarters of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) formerly the Bureau of National Investigation, (BNI) to demand the release of the regional chairman popularly known as chairman Wontumi, said the party as it stands currently “lacks leadership”.

He said, per the NPP constitution, after losing a general election, the leadership of the party, reverts to the national chairman, yet Stephen Ntim Ayesu “is nowhere to be found.

I have not even heard about him. Per our constitution, he has the right to control the party”. He said this has not happened in the history of the party.

In a lengthy conversation with the channel, the senior statesman alluded to the fact that the party after losing the last December election has been on the path of destruction.

He said the leadership has been implementing what he calls plan B aimed at making sure the country becomes ungovernable for the Mahama government so that the armed forces will take over.

He sounded this alarm before the election and thought that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will take him serious and put measures in place to curtail anything of the sort.

“The NPP, my party, I had earlier said if they don’t win the election, will definitely or have what we call Plan B. The records are there if you think I am telling lies play it is either you or TV3 and I thought the NDC will take a note from what I said, their leadership in particular.

I said these people will come up with Plan B because they have been in power for eight years, they have done a lot of stealing, diversion of state properties and money to foreign countries and if we are not careful as a nation this is what they will do. And what is Plan B about?”

He added “It is a simple as that you create a state of confusion that will make it impossible for the government to rule and that is what we are seeing with our naked eyes and when that continues, it will get to a stage that another group of people, not necessarily NDC, because people are watching and the moment security breaks down, what will happen next is the armed forces will take over and mess with the stability …. That is where we are heading to anyone who fails to know that doesn’t know what we are about.

I have been in this country, and I know what I am talking there are elders in this country they should talk and caution leadership of the country at the moment that is where we are heading to. They want to destroy the democratic dispensation that we having been having 30 plus years ago”.
