A Vice President of policy think tank IMANI-Africa, Kofi Bentil, has denied that he collapsed on a live show due to ill health.
According to the private legal practitioner, he did not collapse but only fell on TV’3 Keypoints programme last Saturday, 30 May, due to a malfunctioned chair he was sitting on.
The incident which was captured briefly live on the programme triggered concerns that he may have collapsed on the programme indicating a possible ill health.
TV3, after learning about the rumour flying around issued a formal statement apologizing and clarifying what occurred on set which was seen by viewers.
While opening the show this morning on Saturday, May 6, host, Alfred Ocansey reiterated what happened and subsequently apologized to Bentil who is in the studio for today’s edition.
Responding and accepting the apology, Bentil said he was surprised how far the rumours went. He said he decided to appear on the programme today to confirm that he is well and hearty.
“Actually, that’s why I’m here today, to confirm that everything is fine”, he said.
Apparently, he said he received hundreds of calls from people who wanted to know if he was okay due to the incident.
He said the calls did not end with him. His children and parent were also called for clarification. Bentil said what shocked him most how some mischievous people used his image in AL images of him being on hospital beds and so on.
“As for those people spinning it and saying… Actually, I saw a picture of me on a hospital bed. And here, you understand, a picture of me on a hospital bed.
So, people pick these things up and they say all kinds of things. People say they brought Medicare to treat me and afterwards… It’s a wild story. I don’t know why I’m… It’s such… These things happen”.
He was also excited that all the chairs have all been changed by the station, bringing comfort to panel members.
“And they don’t know that live TV is hard. So, I’m sure the apology is accepted. And thank you on behalf of all the other panelists that you’ve changed the chairs.
So, I believe nobody is going to fall. And that’s what I have to say today. And we’re grateful.
We thank you as well. Thank you. Thank you very much”.
