NPP’s Secret Tiktok Army:

Party Accused of Funding Vile Campaign Against Mahama Family

Fresh evidence is pointing to a coordinated, party-backed campaign of insults, threats and outright lies targeting President John Mahama and his family with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) allegedly bankrolling a legion of social media trolls to do its dirty work.

Despite multiple arrests, prosecutions and even jail terms, the sewer of vitriol on TikTok shows no sign of drying up. And each time one gutter-mouth is brought to book, another springs up in their place spewing dung that would make even the most hardened cybercriminal blush.

The latest casualty is First Lady Lordina Mahama, who was subjected to a vile and unprovoked attack by a Kumasi-based nonentity, Rita Konadu better known online as “MamaOne.” In a now-deleted TikTok video, the pea-brained troll claimed the First Lady “stinks” and that the President cheats on her with young girls. The video, which quickly went viral, triggered widespread disgust and prompted the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) to swoop on the suspect. MamaOne is now in custody and will soon face the full weight of Ghana’s cyber laws.

But here is the disturbing pattern: MamaOne’s arrest comes just days after another NPP-affiliated troll, Camila Alhassan, was sentenced to one year in prison on July 16, 2026, for peddling the absurd and malicious lie that President Mahama buried a herd of cattle to win the 2024 elections and that he murdered the late President John Atta Mills. When Alhassan was arraigned, she tried to delay her imprisonment by claiming she was pregnant. Hospital tests quickly exposed that lie as well.

On August 18, 2025, the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections, Mahamudu Bawumia, was photographed and filmed embracing one Prince Ofori known online as “Fante Confederacy” shortly after the troll was granted bail for threatening to murder President Mahama before the end of 2025. Ofori and his accomplice, Yayra Abiwu (alias Yaa Jollof), had openly vowed to end the President’s life. Yet Bawumia chose to hug him like a long-lost ally, sending a clear signal to other trolls that their lawlessness would be rewarded with party solidarity.

In May 2026, another NPP attack dog, Mahama Aminat alias “Bwumia Ba” took to TikTok to urge her followers to physically assault the President wherever they encounter him. She too was arrested by CVET. But the party’s communications machinery immediately swung into action, not to condemn the threats, but to criticise the police for “stifling free speech.”

The NPP’s Hypocrisy: “We Don’t Endorse It, But Don’t Arrest Them”

In every single case, the NPP has rushed to the defence of its rabid foot soldiers. Party spokespersons have trotted out the same tired refrain: “We do not endorse these comments, but arrests and prosecutions are unwarranted.”

If the party truly opposed this culture of cyber-brutality, why does its leadership publicly embrace those who threaten the President’s life? Why does it cry “free speech” when its own members are caught breaking the law while remaining silent when the same laws are used to protect ordinary citizens from online harassment?

The answer is as clear as it is troubling: the NPP appears to be funding and encouraging a shadow army of trolls to wage a campaign of terror against the First Family, hoping that the constant barrage of insults and threats will weaken the President’s resolve.

The NPP has warned that “tomorrow is pregnant” with consequences for the ruling NDC. But for now, it is the courts that are delivering and they are not smiling.

With MamaOne now in police custody, and Camila Alhassan already serving time, the message from the CVET is clear: no amount of party protection will save you from the long arm of the law.

Yet, as long as the NPP continues to treat these trolls as heroes rather than criminals, the filth will keep flowing. The question Ghanaians are asking is simple: will the party ever clean up its own house or will it continue to hide behind the skirts of “free speech” while its foot soldiers rain dung on the First Family?

For now, the answer appears to be a resounding no. And that is a shame on the entire body politic.
